The Moment You Almost Missed

Reflection Questions

  1. Can you think of a time when something in your life didn’t turn out the way you had hoped? Looking back now, do you see any moments where God may have been present, even if you didn’t recognize it at the time?

  2. The disciples were walking away from Jerusalem, the place where everything had happened. When life becomes confusing or disappointing, where do you tend to go emotionally or spiritually? Do you move toward God, away from God, or something in between?

  3. In the Gospel reading, Jesus listens before he speaks. What does that suggest about how we might support others who are struggling or questioning? When have you experienced someone truly listening to you?

  4. The disciples only recognize Jesus in the breaking of the bread, not during the journey. Why do you think recognition often comes later rather than in the moment? What helps you become more aware of God’s presence in your daily life?

  5. The disciples return to Jerusalem after their encounter, even though their situation hasn’t fully changed. How might an encounter with Christ change our direction or perspective, even if it doesn’t immediately solve our problems?
