SAY MISSION EXPERIENCE 2025
Youth Ministry
St. Andrew’s Youth (SAY)
A community where students in grades 6–12 encounter the living God, grow as followers of Jesus, and discover what it means to belong to the body of Christ.
Who we are
More than a program
SAY exists to help students know Jesus, love him, and let that love actually reshape how they live. We're not trying to fill seats or check boxes. We want teenagers to experience a faith that holds when real life gets hard.
We do that through honest community, teaching rooted in scripture and the church's tradition, shared worship, and the rhythm of the liturgical year. We take teenagers seriously – their questions, their doubts, their experiences – and we believe the ancient faith of the Church has something genuinely worth giving them.
St. Andrew's Youth exists to help students encounter the living God, grow as genuine disciples of Jesus, and develop a faith that shapes how they actually live – their priorities, their relationships, their sense of purpose.
What we’re building toward
Three things we’re after
01
Knowing Jesus
A clear, grounded understanding of who Jesus is – from his own words and actions, rooted in scripture and the story of the Church.
02
Loving Jesus
Not just getting theology right, but genuinely wanting to know him. A relationship, not merely a set of beliefs to affirm.
03
Living Differently
Real discipleship shows up in actual life – how we use our time, treat people, and make choices. Formation, not just information.
When we meet
Weekly gatherings
SAY gathers twice each week throughout the year. Both are open to any student in 6th–12th grade.
Sunday Morning SAY
Sundays @ 10:15 – 10:45 am ·| Youth Room | Year-round
A weekly Bible study between the 9 am and 11 am services. Students explore how Sunday’s gospel reading connects to everyday faith — discussion-based and unhurried. Meets all year, including summer.
Sunday Night SAY
Sundays @ 4:00 – 6:00 pm | Youth Room | During the School Year
Our main weekly gathering. We play games, dig into scripture together, share what's actually going on in our lives, and pray for each other. Once a month this gathering centers around a shared meal together.
Tuesday Night Nonsense (TNN)
Most Tuesdays @ 5:00 - 7:00 pm ·| Locations Vary | During the Summer
When it’s summer break, we keep gathering – just for the fun of it. Swimming, movies, bowling, and more. No agenda other than being with each other. Event is free unless cost is indicated.
Beyond the weekly rhythm
The bigger calendar
Some of the most formative moments happen outside of Sunday evenings. We build that into the year intentionally.
Annual Mission Trip
Each summer, SAY takes a week-long mission trip to serve alongside communities in need. We've traveled to different cities, but while the destination changes each year, but the purpose doesn't: shared sacrifice, service, and encountering God in ways that simply don't happen at home.
Family Meals
Once a month, Sunday Night SAY centers around sharing a meal together. Eating around a table is itself a Christian practice — rooted in the pattern of Jesus and his disciples — and some of the best conversations happen over food.
Retreats & Campouts
Periodically throughout the year we get away together overnight: retreats, campouts, extended time out of the normal routine. These aren't guaranteed every year, but when they happen they're among the most community-deepening experiences we have.
Confirmation
Students who are ready to claim their baptismal covenant as their own go through a confirmation process at St. Andrew's. If you're interested in having your student confirmed, reach out to Tim directly to discuss timing and preparation.
Part of the whole church
A faith for all ages
At St. Andrew's, youth aren't siloed; they're woven into the full life of the parish. SAY students serve as acolytes and lay ministers in Sunday worship, counselors at VBS and Bible Builder Camp, and participate in Hands&Feet service and mission work.
Youth are not the church of the future. They are the church of today, and we encourage students to view themselves as active members of their church: worshiping, fellowshiping, and serving alongside their fellow church members of all ages.
Meet your minister
Tim Jenkins | Youth Minister
“I love youth ministry. It was in the youth program growing up that I learned to love the church, take my faith seriously, and hear God's call on my life. Because of that, I'm passionate about walking alongside young people as they grow in faith, ask hard questions, and experience what it means to belong to the body of Christ.”
Tim has worked with students since 2004, including as a missionary in Guatemala for two years. He has a degree in Preaching and Biblical Studies from Dallas Christian College and is ordained in the Independent Christian Church. He now serves in the Anglican tradition as a confirmed member of the Episcopal Church.
