A Burger, a Blessing, and the Body of Christ
Hi Friends,
I have a confession: every few months, especially during particularly hectic weeks, I indulge in a guilty pleasure—I swing by the drive-thru at McDonald's for a #8 meal. Please, no judgment!
This past Friday was one of those chaotic days, and I found myself weighed down by the burdens of the world. I couldn’t help but wonder, is there hope?
After placing my order, I approached the pay window, where a young woman greeted me with a radiant smile. Her joy alone lifted my spirits. To my surprise, she excitedly revealed that the car ahead of me had paid for my meal, wishing me a great day! In that moment, I felt as if God was sending me a message. My doubts about hope melted away, and the heaviness I carried began to lift. There is hope!
Then, with great excitement, she asked, “Would you like to make the next person’s day?” I quickly responded, “Absolutely! Let’s keep hope alive!”
Simple acts of kindness can have a profound impact, often more than we realize. The person in front of me didn’t know anything about my gender, race, faith, or political beliefs; they simply wanted to spread joy, and they succeeded! These small gestures create a ripple effect in our communities—something we should cherish and continue in any way we can. It could be as simple as holding the door for someone, greeting a stranger with a smile, lending a hand to a neighbor, or yes, paying for someone’s #8!
I invite you to aim for at least two acts of kindness each week. Just think of the joy and hope we can spread together!
Peace,
Lisa
