A Hard Week, and the People Who Show Up for It

Dear Friends,

It’s been a hard week. As you likely know already, we lost a long-time member quite suddenly (and far too young) when Sydney Robison died on Monday. I am grateful that we will have the chance to hold Sydney’s burial service in a few weeks, commending her to Christ and offering our grief and sadness to the Lord; details are below.

One of the very first emails I sent about Sydney’s death was to the Daughters of the King (DOK). Though she was beloved by many of them, Sydney was not herself a Daughter. Still, the Daughters have committed themselves to a life of prayer and service, and I knew that when I sent that email to them, Sydney would immediately be prayed for (as well as Mark and the rest of her family).

Sometimes the DOK reminds me a little bit of the “Who you gon’ call? (Ghostbusters)” theme song.

You too can call on The Daughters when you check that box on the backside (the prayer request side) of your Connection Card on Sunday.

I know, certainly, that a great many of you have been praying hard this week. Thank you.

I specifically call out the great gift the Daughters give us all, by being go-to prayer warriors, because this Sunday they are admitting/rededicating four new members (as well as four girls as junior members). This is exciting for them, and great for all of us. More women are dedicating themselves to the Rule of Prayer and Rule of Service that are the foundation of the Order. I hope you’ll join me in congratulating them!

And in the meantime, I leave you with this — from our LEGO Bible Builders camp this week. I honestly don’t know what it is, but I imagine it’s a little bit like what a prayerful Christian looks like to the Devil.
