St. Andrew’s Family,
If you have walked through the church building lately, you may have noticed something unusual: the building is filling up with presents!
Wrapped gifts are appearing everywhere, and each week there are more of them. We have even heard a few comments along the way: “Isn’t it a little early for Christmas?”
Maybe. But then again, maybe not.
Given that our stewardship campaign theme is Gifts from God, these packages are meant to remind us of something we can easily forget: God is always giving.
Every day, God pours out his grace and provision upon us. The gift of another morning. The people who walk alongside us. The abilities and opportunities we have been given. The food on our tables. The work of our hands. The forgiveness we receive. The community we share. And above all, the gift of God’s love made known to us in Jesus Christ.
Most of these gifts do not come wrapped in colorful paper with bows on top. And because they arrive so regularly, it can be easy to stop noticing them.
Stewardship begins before we ever ask, “What should I give?” It begins by asking, “What has God given me?”
When we begin there, generosity becomes more than an obligation. It becomes a response. We give because we have received. We share because God has been generous with us. We offer our time, talents, resources, and lives because everything we have ultimately comes from God.
So, yes, there are gifts all over St. Andrew’s, and it’s not even Christmas yet.
God’s gifts are not seasonal. His grace is not reserved for one morning in December. Every day, in ways both extraordinary and wonderfully ordinary, God continues to give.
May we have eyes to see the gifts and hearts ready to respond.
See you all Sunday!
Peace,
Father Logan
