One Body, One Table, One Picnic
Dear Friends,
One of my favorite parts of scripture comes from Acts chapter 2. This part of scripture tells the story about how the Holy Spirit falls on the Apostles. This day is better known as Pentecost (which we will celebrate in a few short weeks). As a result of the work of the Holy Spirit, the Apostles baptized about three thousand people. Alleluia! This act resulted in the formation of what we call a “Christian Community.” Acts tells us that the believers were all together and had all things in common. They spent much time together, broke bread together, and ate together all while praising God and having the goodwill of all the people. Because of this, God added to their number day after day.
This story points to something I see in our own Christian Community here at St. Andrew’s. One of the many gifts I receive is the gift to shake hands with, check in with, and worship with everyone at all three services every Sunday. This gift allows me to see the full tapestry of God’s work here at St. Andrew’s in and through the relationships I share with each of you.
However, I realize that not everyone gets to experience this opportunity to shake hands with, check in with, and worship with each other every week, and God can overcome this barrier making his work known regardless. But something special happens when we can all come together and worship, break bread together, and have a little fun.
This Sunday we are combining our 9 am and 11 am services into one 10 am service outside with a picnic to follow. This special combination of services allows the body of Christ here at St. Andrew’s to come together in worship and in the sharing of the body and blood of Christ. This is special because, like the early church, God is adding to our numbers. There are people you have yet to worship with. Then after worship concludes we can all kick back, play some games, slide on water slides, eat some food, and enjoy building those relationships that lead to Christ.
So, put on your sunscreen, pack your lawn chairs, and join us this Sunday morning at 10 am as we come together as the Body of Christ. I am so excited.
See you all Sunday!
Peace and Grace
Father Logan
