Grace in the Middle of Change
Dear Friends,
Summer is rapidly approaching. I’m excited about some of the community activities we have coming up this summer, including Saturday’s playdate at Whisenant Park, and the next weekend our Memorial Day Weekend picnic. This will be my first year to experience VBS and Bible Builders at St. Andrew’s, and I can’t wait to hear about SAY’s Tuesday night adventures and their upcoming mission trip. I’ll also be going to our diocesan camp, Camp All Saints, for a week and am looking forward to that adventure.
May is a month of transitions for all of those in school, as well as their family and friends. Many of us, myself included, will be attending ceremonies to mark these transitions. Whether we are celebrating a preschool graduation or a doctoral graduation, we are reminded of the passage of time. Saying goodbye to beloved people and places is hard. Even positive changes can be stressful, and I find it comforting to remember that God’s love for us remains constant; we are safe in his hands.
Our children and youth will be serving at the 9 am service this week, and I pray that they feel a sense of ownership and belonging for this place as they serve. We will also be celebrating our graduates. I pray that wherever life takes those raised in this church, they will remember St. Andrew’s as a place where they experienced God’s grace and love through its members.
In Christ,
Dcn Erica
