Summer Rhythm, Sacred Connection

We have had a great week of VBS this past week! I always welcome the change in routine that summer provides. While we rest from some of our regular activities, we make room for other experiences that help us to grow closer as a community. There are many ways that we grow in unity as a church, including prayer, service, fellowship, and recreation.

I have greatly enjoyed getting to know some of our children and youth better, as well as spending time with our wonderful volunteers. This week our children have been learning about some foundational Bible stories, and they have also been reminded every day that God is with us wherever we go. I pray that they are simultaneously experiencing God’s love through the interaction with their peers and the volunteers.

Beginning June 25, we will have a summer program on Wed evenings that will also provide an opportunity for all ages to grow as a community and to enrich our relationship with God. We will gather for a simple dinner and a relaxed, family-friendly time of worship in the Episcopal tradition. Evening prayer is a simple and beautiful service that can be led by any Christian, and saints like you and me who worship in the Anglican communion around the world pray it every day. We would love to have you join us.

I hope that this summer will provide us with a respite from the regular routine and opportunities for growth in our walk with God. In this season of transition, as families move into and out of our area, I also pray that we will have opportunities to welcome newcomers and help them to feel like part of our family at St Andrew’s.

In the Peace and Love of Christ,
Mother Erica
