We’re Almost There!
Dear Friends,
“Whoa we’re halfway there. Whoa living on a prayer!” Well, we are more than halfway through Lent, however, Bon Jovi still rings in my ears this time every year. For me Lent isn’t an arduous time of suffering. For me Lent is a pressure cooker that is preparing us for our journey through Holy Week and then exploding into Easter. So maybe the song in my head should be, “Whoa we’re almost there!”
Being almost there (meaning a week from Sunday is Palm Sunday and then Holy Week is upon us) means that everything is amping up around here at the church. Meetings about palm processions with DONKEYS, creation of prayer gardens, and coordinating foot washing stations are in full force. I always find myself feeling grateful for the many hands and feet that make this season so memorable, immersive, and spiritual. It’s this holy work that draws people into the presence of our God and culminates in the joy of the resurrection.
With this being said, I wonder how you feel about the season of Lent? Has it been a time of self-examination? Has temptation crept and threatened those disciplines that you began back at the beginning of March? My hope and prayer is that you have felt yet a small taste of the hope Jesus brings each of us. Even if temptation has crept in, we can all lean on the mercy and grace Jesus pours out on us. So, hang in there brothers and sisters. We are almost there!
Peace and Grace,
Father Logan
