What Does a Christian Do with the 4th of July?
St. Andrew’s Family,
As we gather with friends and family to celebrate the Fourth of July, this year carries special significance as our nation marks its 250th birthday. Milestone anniversaries invite us to pause, remember, and give thanks. They remind us that every generation receives gifts from those who came before and bears the responsibility of stewarding those gifts for those who will follow.
As Christians, we know that every good and perfect gift comes from God. We give thanks for the freedoms we enjoy, for the beauty of this country, for the communities we call home, and for the opportunities we have to worship, serve, and love our neighbors. We also remember that our greatest gift is found in Jesus Christ, whose love calls us to be people of hope, grace, and reconciliation wherever we are.
This Independence Day, I encourage you to take a few moments to thank God for the many blessings in your life. Offer a prayer for our nation, for those who serve in the military, for first responders, for our leaders, and for all who work to build communities marked by justice, peace, and compassion. May we continue to be faithful stewards of the blessings God has entrusted to us.
Whether your plans include fireworks, a backyard cookout, time at the lake, or simply enjoying a quiet evening with loved ones, I pray that you have a safe and joyful holiday weekend. Please be careful as you travel and celebrate.
Most of all, I look forward to gathering with you all on Sunday as we come together to worship the One from whom all blessings flow. There is no better way to conclude a weekend of thanksgiving than by joining with God's people around His table with grateful hearts.
Happy Independence Day, and God bless you and your family!
Peace and Grace,
Father Logan
