Where might God be inviting you this fall?

Dear Friends,

As we enter the last third of the year, St. Andrew’s is beginning to hum again with activity every single weekday. There are thirdly-statements to go out (you’ll get those next week), Advent and Christmas events and services to plan, budgets and stewardship and committee work, and – most importantly – our fellowship, outreach, and discipleship activities are all ramping up.

If you skim through the email below, you’ll see announcements about events for seniors, women, men, PrimeTimers, and youth. There’s more that’s not even in the announcements: our weekday Bible studies have all started or will start next week. Waymakers and Journey in Faith are in full swing on Sunday mornings. And Hands&Feet is as busy as ever, especially now that C.L.I.M.B. (our after-school program) has started back up. There are a lot of places in the vineyard of God’s work that are open for more laborers right now!

I write in my notes to newcomers that “worship is at the heart of all we do — but there is so much else we do too.” Worship, and the grace and strength we receive from God in it, is the heart of what we do. It empowers us for all the other stuff. And there is so much other stuff.

Don’t try to do all the other stuff. There is too much of it to do it all. But I do want you to prayerfully consider this fall whether God might be inviting you to dip your toe into some part of the other stuff: a new way of serving our community, a new way of seeing and relating to him you discover in prayerful study, and a new sense of connection and friendship you build in a fellowship group.

St. Andrew’s is blessed with the resources and lay leaders to have so many opportunities, so many different ways of laboring in God’s vineyard. And the fall — harvest time — is a great time to jump in and be a part.
