Lenten Weekly Schedule

Wednesdays

Dinner & Discipleship

February 24 - March 24

Join us for dinner at 6:30 pm and classes from 7 pm to 8 pm.

Lent & the 5 Senses (Youth)

Grades 6-12, in the SAY Room

Lent is about reshaping our lives to help us pay better attention. In this series, we’ll explore how God speaks through the five senses. We’ll open Scripture, ask real questions, and then get hands-on each week: creating, listening, tasting, and discovering how faith is meant to be lived in real bodies, real lives, and real moments.

Encountering Christ in the Stranger (Adults)

in Michie Hall

This Lent, we’ll take a spiritual journey through Scripture – encountering Abraham’s obedience, Hagar’s wilderness, Joseph’s prison, Israel’s exile, and the Holy Family’s flight. At the center of our journey is a challenging call: to recognize God in the stranger – especially in those displaced by violence, persecution, or hardship. Through Scripture, reflection, and shared conversation, we’ll ask how these sacred stories shape our compassion and call us into the heart of God’s work in the world. Come with questions, curiosity, or longing. Come when you can. Together, we’ll walk toward Easter with open hearts and deeper understanding. Nursery provided.

Fridays

Sacrament of Reconciliation

11:15 am - 11:45 am in the Great Hall, by appointment
February 20 - March 27

Reconciliation of a Penitent, sometimes called Confession, is a sacramental practice where we confess our sins to God with a priest and receive assurance of pardon and absolution. Especially during Lent, it can be a powerful and grace-filled way to experience God’s mercy, healing, and renewal. Those who wish to participate are invited to schedule an appointment with a member of the clergy.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

12 noon in the Great Hall
February 20 - March 27

An hour-long space for quiet individual prayer before the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ in the sacrament. Because it is individual prayer, you can come anytime in the hour and stay for as long or as short a time as you desire. For those who have never participated in this devotional practice, resources will be available to help guide your prayers and thoughts in the presence of our Lord.

What is Lent?

It was the practice of Early Christians to observe “a season of penitence and fasting” in order to prepare for Easter. This season has become known as Lent. Lent is forty days long, not counting Sundays, extending from Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent, through Holy Saturday, the day before Easter.

You are invited “to the observance of a holy Lent, by self-examination and repentance; by prayer, fasting, and self-denial; and by reading and meditating on God's holy Word.”

Stations of the Cross

An Audio Devotion

Early Christian pilgrims to the Holy Land often made it a practice to visit the places of Jesus' Passion. Stations of the Cross imitates this practice and is a popular devotion, frequently participated in during Lent.

The liturgy for The Way of the Cross can be found here.

This audio devotion is adapted from The Way of the Cross from The Book of Occasional Services with special station descriptions written and voiced by Ginny Lamoureux. Originally aired as an episode of the podcast St. Andrew's Present, it has been rehosted for the use of all.

Stations of the Cross was produced by Tim Jenkins. Special thanks to Carolyn, Michael, and Joshua Nicketta, Tracy Hutchinson, Laura and Syd Verinder, Stephanie Jenkins, David and Ginny Lamoureux, and the Rev. Deacon Pam Fairley for lending their voices to this project.

Songs featured in this production are “Now is the Time to Leave” by August Wilhelmsson, “Tomorrow’s Rain” by Hushed, and “Growing Love” by Josef Bel Habib.
