Habitat, Hope & Hands-On Love

Hi Friends,

We Hope that this Saturday will be our first build day for the Habitat for Humanity “Jimmy Carter” House. We are monitoring the weather carefully. Please check your email on Saturday morning to confirm we are a go. I will have a note out by 7 am to all those signed up for the build.

We hope to have twenty members from St. Andrew’s at the site helping as well as some members at the Habitat Store. Regardless of which location you are volunteering at, you still must fill out the waiver (link above).

April has been an exhilarating month! On April 6, our remarkable St. Andrew’s volunteers were honored by the Sanchez Charity Group for our contributions to the McKinney Little Free Pantry. Hands&Feet, along with the St. Andrew’s Men’s Fellowship, Baggie Brigade, Ron Arthur, Sara Sharratt, Eddie Black, and Mark Bedard, received the Star Fish Award for their unwavering support of this vital ministry.

Additionally, our C.L.I.M.B. volunteers were awarded the Education Champion Award at the Volunteer McKinney awards ceremony on April 10. Now in its second year, this afterschool program, hosted at the Merritt McGowan apartment complex, provides a safe environment, snacks, and engaging activities for elementary school students. Consistency, grace, love, and friendship are just a few of the wonderful qualities demonstrated each week at C.L.I.M.B. by our St. Andrew’s volunteers. I am immensely grateful to Jane Lilliston, Debbie Buck, Shannon Frink, Mtr. Paulette Magnuson, Gail Anderson, Bev West, Laura Bray, Fr. Logan, and Fr. Andrew for their dedication!

St. Andrew’s is truly a special place, dedicated to embodying the teachings of Jesus by being his hands and feet in our community. If you’re not currently involved in one of our outreach events, I encourage you to find an opportunity that resonates with you! Not only do we strengthen our relationships with the community, but we also foster meaningful fellowship among ourselves, all while living out the principles of love and service that Jesus exemplified.

Peace,
Lisa Ostrowski

Outreach Director

P.S. - From May 4 – June 1 we will be having a diaper and baby wipes drive to help the moms of Gateway of Grace. Please drop off all donations at the church office or leave them at the Thanksgiving Pantry in the hallway! Thank you!
