How will You Get to Easter?

Dear Friends,

Getting to Easter is like going to New Orleans. And I don’t just mean that there is a party at the end.

There are basically two ways to get to New Orleans, you can fly, or you can drive. Driving requires a little more work, and you’ll stop along the way. If you fly, you skip all that and just step off the plane in New Orleans.

There are two ways to get to Easter too. You can fly straight there – just show up on Sunday. It’ll be beautiful and joyous and wonderful.

Or you can take the road trip, stopping at Maundy Thursday, The Watch, Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil. Jesus, of course, took the road trip to Easter, stopping along the way at the Upper Room, the Garden of Gethsemane, Pilate’s judgment seat, the Cross at Golgotha, and the tomb—before finally arriving at Easter morning. We’re invited to take the road trip to Easter too.

The services spread over these three holy days (known since ancient times as the Triduum), are powerful, peculiar, profound, and fruitful for our relationship with Christ. Just as a road trip is made better by good traveling companions—and also turns those traveling companions into friends—our road trip to Easter is blessed with the companionship of our Lord, drawing us deeper into friendship with Him who loved us so much.

So, whether you fly or drive this Holy Week, I look forward to the Easter shouts of the A-word with you. Until then, may you be blessed in your walk with Jesus this Holy Week.

In Christ,
Fr. Andrew

☔️ Rain, Rain, Go Away…

You may have noticed the weather forecast involves a bit of moisture this weekend. No problem… what do you call finding Easter eggs in the pouring rain? An egg-streme sport! The weather plan is this: All our services will take place. Those that are outdoors or have significant outdoor elements will be moved indoors as necessary (Stations of the Cross, Easter Vigil, Sunrise Easter, and even the Great Easter Egg Hunt).
