20th Anniversary Celebration 10am Sunday

Dear Friends,

This Sunday were are having one service, underneath a great big tent, to celebrate St. Andrew’s 20th Anniversary. After worship, we’ll gather for brunch and fellowship. You should come! It will be a wonderful and festive day — with much to share about the past and much to show about what God is calling us to in the future. Just to be clear, there are no other services Sunday — no 8 am, no 9 am, no 11 am — just one, single, all-by-itself service at 10 am.

But also.

I’m writing this on Halloween (with a candy extravaganza coming this evening) and in this email I’m promising food (brunch on Sunday). At the very same time, many of our fellow Americans are desperately wondering what they are going to do without the SNAP (food stamp) benefits that are set to lapse this weekend as result of the government shutdown.

We obviously cannot replace the federal government, but we can do something(s).

  • Bring individually-portioned frozen meals with you on Sunday. Put them in the freezer that will be in the Narthex. We’ll distribute these directly to families who come to St. Andrew’s asking for aid, so we have something in addition to canned goods and dry pantry items to offer.

  • On Sunday morning the “loose offering” (the gifts that are not part of people’s pledges or otherwise designated) will be used to address hunger in our community, both directly through Hands&Feet and though our community partners. You can also give online and put "Food insecurity" in the 'Message or gift purpose' box.

Food insecurity has long been one of the key needs St. Andrew’s has tried to address with our Hands&Feet ministry. Helping our neighbors like this is a very “St. Andrew’s way” to celebrate our anniversary.

Happy birthday, church!

In Christ,
Fr. Andrew
