20 Years & A New Beginning

Dear Friends,

It’s not every Sunday one gets to reveal the plans for a new sanctuary in a sermon!

Last we week had a wonderful Sunday celebrating St. Andrew’s 20th Anniversary. The tent was overflowing. Bishop James Stanton, our founding bishop, celebrated the service with us. I got to preach about how our story and the story of God’s people overlaps and gives shape to our future. And — most excitingly — we revealed the conceptual design for St. Andrew’s new expansion that the Vision 20 committee has spent this year working on. If you weren’t able to be with us on Sunday, you can see the elevations and renderings of the new building on our website.

While the timeline for this project includes a capital campaign next year, many of you have asked if you can give already! Of course! We’ll happily receive gifts towards the building fund in advance of the formal campaign.

  • You can give online.

  • Write “building fund” on your check or envelope if you’re giving in-person.

  • If you’d like to give in tax-advantaged ways, such as stocks or other assets, required minimum distributions (RMDs), or from a donor advised fund (DAF), we can receive those gifts as well. If you haven’t done so before, call Carolyn in the church office who can help with any details.

This is such an exciting time! God has a bright future ahead of us, full of good work for the kingdom and transformed lives. More concrete (ha!) details will be coming in the new year.

As much as we looked to the future on Sunday, we also gave thanks for the past. During the service we shared some slideshows of photos from our 20 years as a church. Depending on where you were sitting, you might not have been able to see them (and certainly, if you weren’t able to join us Sunday, you didn’t get to see them at all). All the photos used are in the slideshow below, accompanied by several cuts off of our album, “St. Andrew’s Greatest Hits.”

We also had a wonderful message from Fr. Mike and Laurie Michie.

As I said towards the end of the sermon, there is much more to come. But there is much for this present moment too. Look below... the fullness of our ministry opportunities these next two months speaks to the fullness of our hearts with God’s grace. We have lots of ways to serve, give, learn, and praise, that the people whom Jesus loves may come to put their trust ever more deeply in God.

In Christ,
Fr. Andrew
